The "DELulu" in your "SOULulu"

It was a rainy day. We were in a village called Palimar in Udupi district , in my Paternal Aunt's house, sipping some amazing herbal tea that my aunt had made. What a wonderful evening it was! Amazing weather, the beautiful scenes of Palimar's greenery, and the warmth of my paternal extended family who have the same wavelength of sense of humor as I. Just the kind of thing I love!!

As I was sipping tea while complimenting my aunt for making one heck of an herbal tea and cracking jokes, one of my other aunt commented - ' Our parental generation used to say that there shall come a time when there will be no rice to eat , as the population is rising '. They may have made these comments somewhere in 70s or 80s of the last century is my guesstimation. Of course that's what would have appeared to the eyes of people of that time. An ever increasing population of India, added to that a lack of resources - also known as 'the remains of the British loot'. But did that really happen?

When we look back to the time of independence and compare it with today, the population was nearly 1/3 rd compared to today & starvation was much much more prevelant. From deaths due to starvation , we have progressed and oxymoronically regressed to become the ' Diabetic capital of the world'. Yeah I know you would say, that's because science progressed and we were able to invent fancy stuff. Yes you are right! Buuuuut , even if a certain chemical makes the plant grow better and the human brain was able to think so good such that it can invent those fancy devices and chemicals, it was only possible, because the one who created them, had instilled in them that ability. It is by his will and power that everything does what it does.

The reason I am narrating to you this anecdote O reader, is because I want you to know that your mind might imagine a lot of things about future and put you in anticipatory anxiety. But know that whatever happens, happens by his will. As Purandara Dasa - the great Kannada Devotional thinker and poet famously told in his poem: " ತಲ್ಲಣಿಸದಿರು ಕಂಡ್ಯ ತಾಳು ಮನವೆ, ಎಲ್ಲರನು ಸಲಹುವನು ಇದಕೆ ಸಂಶಯವಿಲ್ಲ || ಬೆಟ್ಟದಾ ತುದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ ವೃಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಕಟ್ಟೆಯನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ ನೀರೆರೆದವರು ಯಾರೊ? "
{Translation: Fear not O mind, you will be taken care by him (God) without a doubt. Who is it that watered and built a sidewall to the plants on the mountains?}

So why don't you just submit to his will and depend on him?

For he who provides for those weird and wonderful creatures in the wildernesses of those densest jungles and the darknesses of those deepest oceans - which neither hold a job or a bank account, shall also provide for humankind. For he is the King of the universe, and the provisions that he owns far outweighs what humankind could ever imagine. But you O puny human, are in your "DELUlu" in your "SOULulu" that you can only thrive and survive if the dollars in your account look hefty eh?
