The SEED that you SOWED

I was having a chat, about the current state of affairs in the country with a buddy of mine, who happens to be my 11th and 12 th batch mate. I and he happen to share certain common thoughts with respect to serving the society for it's betterment. He made a remark - " Once I make enough money and settle down, I want to do something for the society ". Upon which I asked him - " Will that time ever come?" And he replied - " That's there".

It's an absolutely sensible thought that my friend had. You yourself need to have a strong stable base for yourself and sufficient resources for your near and dear ones before you can do something big for the larger society in general. But the unpredictablity of what God has destined for us, and what life shall throw upon us, is what made me question what he said. And he duely acknowledged my remark. 

So the question is, how can you do something to the society, when you yourself are leading an "Unstable" life? Well, I genuinely believe we really need to reframe our thought process with respect to what it really means to serve the society. It doesn't always have to mean, you join politics and bring a change or become a revolutionary and lead people behind your back or start an NGO and spend millions!! I beleive a penny less being too can be of service to the society in his or her own ways.

And your service could be an advice you gave, a skill or knowledge you taught someone, a luggage you carried for someone, a glass of water you gave to quench a person's thirst, a pencil you bought for a poor child, few words of compassion you uttered to an orphan child , the consolement  you gave to a broken heart or even " A seed you sowed".

Yeah you heard it right! A seed that you once sowed, which one day shall become a tree, and then shall be a source of food, good air and shelter for many many beings that you can't imagine. A small effort you made which gradually multiplied by God's will, and became something you couldn't imagine.

Perhaps that math's problem that you taught your neighbour's kid who couldn't afford going to tution, might make him think..."Uh! Math's ain't difficult" and make him put more efforts into studies which made him what he was destined to become in a couple of decades. Perhaps a word of consolement you uttered for that person when he was pondering of ending his life, might make him want to live more and do something for the betterment of the world. 

As a part of my Psychiatric PG residency, we had to visit multiple rehabilitation centres and vocational training centres meant for those with mental illness and neurodevelopmental problems. I could see that most of them were started really small, by a compassionate heart which later grew to become what it became today , relieving the burdens of the patients , their families and society in general. They became a ray of hope!

So my dear reader,be not of those waiting for "that day" to come when you'll become, what you fancied to become. Maybe, the coming days shall be tougher than the current ones.  Take a small step  'right now' for the other being out there,  no matter how small or insignificant it might look to you and irrespective of whether you are able to witness it or not,  the generations to come shall certainly benefit from the fruits of what you sowed,by God's will!
